Name the problem
State the problem in one sentence and who has it. If you cannot name a real person who has it, keep researching.
Talk to ten people
Ask how they handle the problem today, what it costs them and what they have tried. Listen for patterns before you pitch.
Test before building
Offer a simple version: a page, a pilot or a pre-order list. Real interest, such as someone giving time or money, is stronger evidence than praise.
Work out the basics
Estimate your costs, a fair price and how many customers you need to break even. Rough numbers are fine at this stage.
Get to the first customer
Aim to serve one paying customer well and learn from them. Their feedback shapes what you build next.
