Start with one task, not the whole job
Pick a repeatable task you already understand, such as summarizing meeting notes, drafting a first email or turning bullet points into a report outline. You can judge the result because you know what good looks like.
Write prompts like a brief
A good prompt names the role, the goal, the audience, the format and any limits. Compare “Write about our service” with “Write a 120-word description of our bookkeeping service for restaurant owners, friendly tone, no jargon.” The second gives the tool something to work with.
Always check the output
AI tools can sound confident and still be wrong. Verify names, numbers, dates and quotations against a reliable source before you use them. Treat the first answer as a draft.
Protect private information
Do not paste passwords, personal data, client secrets or confidential documents into a tool unless your organization has approved it and you understand how the data is used. When in doubt, remove names and numbers first.
Keep a prompt notebook
Save prompts that worked, with a note on what you changed. Within a few weeks you will have a small library that saves time and makes your results more consistent.
