The Program

NBU’s Global Mentors Program connects students with experienced professionals who bring real-world knowledge from business, public policy, technology, humanitarian work, government, international organizations, and global industry.

Through structured mentorship, students can gain practical perspective, explore professional pathways, strengthen leadership skills, and better understand how their academic interests connect to the world of work.

A Global Network of Experience

The Global Mentors Program is designed to complement the academic experience at Nation Builders University by connecting students with professionals whose knowledge and experience align with their School, program of study, and professional interests.

Mentors may bring experience from areas such as international organizations, government agencies, NGOs, development institutions, technology, business, consulting, hospitality, communications, education, and other professional fields.

Mentorship provides students with an opportunity to learn from perspectives shaped by real-world professional experience.

How Mentor Matching Works

01 — Share Your Interests

Enrolled students complete a mentor request or intake process identifying their School, program of study, professional interests, goals, and areas where they would value guidance.

02 — We Identify a Relevant Match

NBU considers the student's academic area, professional interests, and mentorship needs when identifying an appropriate mentor from the available mentor network.

03 — Begin the Mentorship

Once a suitable match is identified, the student and mentor begin their mentorship relationship according to the program's established format and schedule.

04 — Learn, Ask, and Develop

Students can use mentorship conversations to explore professional perspectives, discuss industry-specific questions, develop career strategies, and gain insight into leadership and professional development.

What Mentorship Can Cover

Mentorship is shaped around the student's academic and professional interests and may include:

Career Strategy

Exploring professional pathways, workplace expectations, and strategies for developing a meaningful career.

Field-Specific Insight

Learning about current challenges, opportunities, practices, and perspectives within a student's area of interest.

Leadership Development

Strengthening strategic thinking, communication, decision-making, professional confidence, and leadership perspective.

Entrepreneurship & Innovation

Discussing business ideas, innovation, organizational growth, technology, and approaches to solving real-world problems.

Public Policy & Global Affairs

Gaining perspective on governance, diplomacy, international development, humanitarian work, and public-sector careers.

Technology & Digital Leadership

Exploring technology careers, digital transformation, analytics, innovation, and leadership in evolving industries.

Flexible Mentorship Formats

Depending on program needs and mentor availability, mentorship may take place virtually, on campus, or through a hybrid format.

The frequency and format of meetings are established through the program and may vary according to the mentor-student relationship.

The goal is to create meaningful opportunities for students to engage with experienced professionals while maintaining flexibility for different academic and professional circumstances.

Mentorship Is

  • A source of professional perspective and field-specific guidance

  • An opportunity to learn from experienced professionals

  • A complement to classroom learning and academic development

  • A space to discuss professional interests, leadership, and career direction

  • A way to gain perspective on real-world professional environments

Mentorship Is Not

  • A replacement for academic advising or faculty instruction

  • A substitute for NBU's Career Services

  • A guarantee of employment, internships, placements, or other career outcomes

  • A guarantee of access to a particular named professional

  • A promise of a specific number of meetings or sessions

Mentorship is intended to provide structured guidance and professional perspective. Outcomes and opportunities may vary based on individual circumstances, mentor availability, student participation, and other factors.

How to Request a Mentor

Mentorship is available through the Global Mentors Program for enrolled NBU students.

To begin, students can submit the mentor request intake form with information about their academic program, professional interests, and the type of guidance they are seeking.

NBU will review the request and consider available mentors whose experience aligns with the student's School, program, and interests.

A Bridge Between Education and Experience

The Global Mentors Program extends learning beyond the classroom by giving students opportunities to engage with professionals and perspectives from around the world.

From business and technology to public policy, humanitarian work, communication, and global service, mentorship helps students connect what they are learning with the realities of professional life.

Learn. Connect. Lead.
